Tule Elk of Point Reyes

The below gallery contains images of one of the most magical times I have experienced in nature. My family and I felt a bit of cabin fever during the quarantine and needed a cool place to stretch our legs. Although all beaches in CA are closed we were still able to find one to hike at beautiful Point Reyes. While driving back from a Lovely day of hiking and the beach we saw some elk in the cattle field along the road. We pulled over where I eagerly grabbed my camera and quietly exited the vehicle. As I swiftly approached I noticed I was holding my breath in sheer exhilaration as I crept to a good viewing point. These elk were so beautiful and magical to behold at such close range. I feel honored to have been able to photograph them. I enjoyed their presence until a loud car passed scaring them up the ridge. It was just as amazing to watch them running together in unison to the safety of the valley below. These elk are an endangered species that were repopulated to live again at the Point Reyes National Seasore.
